Every physician has their own method of evaluating films. Most will tell you that it doesn't so much matter what method you chose, but rather that you approach an image systematically, the same way every time, in order to ensure the fewest possible omissions and errors. I have found the following method effective, feel free to adapt and post comments.

here is an interesting new blog on the Internet that you should go check out. It’s Johnson and Johnson’s new corporate blog, JNJ BTW. I started leaving comments over there a couple of weeks ago, and now I’m getting hits on my own blog from J&J. I hope some of my new readers are drug reps. I want to help them learn how to get along with hospital staff so they do not suffer their own death at the hands of a nurse.

I've been thinking a lot about inappropriate behavior at work, especially in light of a few incidents that have recently (in the last few months) cropped up in my presence. One was based on the behavior of nurses and the other the attitude of an Ob/Gyn attending physician.

A 47-year-old woman is admitted to the hospital secondary to increasing shortness of breath. The patient has a history of alcoholic cirrhosis (diagnosed by liver biopsy 3 months ago) with ascites. She states that her abdomen has increased in size and that her breathing has become increasingly difficult. She has had mild abdominal discomfort for the last week but denies fever, nausea, vomiting, hematemesis, melena, or mental status changes. She denies excess fluid or salt intake and has been compliant with her medications, which include Lasix and Aldactone. Her social history is significant for heavy alcohol intake for 15 years. She denies current drug or tobacco use.
Question 1
You are the resident on the floor admitting the patient. The patient carries a diagnosis of cirrhosis; however, you realize it is important to review the relationship between alcohol and liver function before examining the patient.
How does ethanol damage the liver?

Japan's health minister promised to try to resolve a shortage of doctors after a pregnant woman miscarried in an ambulance during a frantic three-hour search for a hospital that would accept her.
Eight hospitals turned down the 38-year-old woman, who was six months pregnant, and the ambulance carrying her collided with a minivan on its way to the ninth, said a fire department official in Nara, western Japan.
Her waters broke several minutes before the accident and the baby was born dead. The woman and medical staff were uninjured in the accident, which occurred on Wednesday.
