Cornell investigators are reporting a discovery explaining one of the most fundamental aspects of the DNA replication process. With the help of a micron-sized plastic bead attached to the DNA, Michelle Wang and colleagues from the Dept. of Physics, have shown that DNA double helix is actively separated by a helicase enzyme. The group's research was published in the latest issue of Cell:
